When to replace
Clutch life varies enormously — 60,000 to 120,000+ miles depending on driving style. Symptoms of a worn clutch include slipping (engine revs rise without acceleration), juddering on pull-away, a high biting point, and difficulty selecting gears.
Brand guide
LuK, Sachs, and Valeo are the three main OEM clutch suppliers. A complete kit (friction plate, pressure plate, release bearing, and sometimes DMF) is cheaper than buying components individually.
💡 Top tip: If your car has a dual mass flywheel, always check it when replacing the clutch. A worn DMF will destroy a new clutch within months. Replacement adds cost but prevents repeat failures.
